Michael Roth Lecture

Michael Roth is a leading public intellectual advocating for a ‘pragmatic liberal education’ and the continued significance and role higher education plays in American society. His most recent book, Beyond the University: Why Liberal Education Matters, was published by Yale University Press in 2014 and has received national attention in the current public debates over the advantages or disadvantages of a liberal education. In the book, he examines and evaluates the approaches of seminal American thinkers regarding the value of a vocational educational experience as compared to a liberal education.
